JL makes, without a doubt, one of the finest lines of subs on the planet.
I have used them in sealed, ported and IB configs and loved them everytime.
Very musical bass everytime with plenty of thumpin' action for those bassheads out there!
I have decided (after checking out different plans on JL's site) to make a pair of ported enclosures
to go along with my Front Channel Arrays for my Home Theatre setup.
These will be run from the preamp out of my DSP 3090 Processor to a seperate receiver being used as an amp for them.
Since the preamp out only sends the frequencies below 90 HZ, no crossover is needed.
I am guessing that, even though there will only being 45 watts going to each sub, they will rock the house.
If not, I will get a set of 100+ watt monoblocks.
The beauty of this setup is that the arrays will have a natural rolloff
below about 81 Hz so the system should have a pretty smooth response.
I will post more later after extensive listening tests. :)
