This is the proposed design of a simple but functional A/V center.
The finish could be changed to fit in with almost any decor or color scheme.
It will be able to hold up to a 36" television comfortably on the top and, if stacked, up to six components on the bottom shelf.
I like this design because it is relatively simple to build and allows for a lot of air movement for cooling. One potential drawback is that nothing is hidden so routing the wires neatly will be even more important than usual.
The entire thing can be built from less than one sheet of birch plywood, some edgebanding and about seven feet of 3" PVC.
This would bring the cost, in my area, to about $60 including stain and paint.
Not bad for something that I priced similarly at about $350 at a furniture store
and then I could not even pick my color!
